Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster this week posted the top consumer complaints received by his office in 2015.
Violations of the state’s no-call law again topped the list. During the year, the attorney general’s office filed 17 lawsuits and collected over $600,000 in fines and penalties from telemarketers, according to a news release.
“My office aggressively pursued abusive telemarketers last year, and this year we saw a significant drop in complaints,” Koster said in the release, pointing to a 19 percent drop in complaints from 2014.
Below are the top 10 complaints received by Koster’s office:
1. No-call and illegal telemarketing, 41,517
2. Solicitation scams, 3,528
3. Debt collectors, online lenders and financial, 2,353
4. Automotive repair and missing car titles, 1,962
5. Identity theft, 1,669
6. Phone billing, cramming and communications, 1,657
7. Home repair and real estate, 1,300
8. Retail purchase, 1,258
9. Travel and timeshares, 1,125
10. Health clubs and medical billing, 1,040
