Kullmann was hired by Mercy as senior media relations specialist, and she will share duties with Lisa Cox of Mercy Springfield. Both will handle media relations for Mercy Springfield and report to Nancy Corbett, Mercy's director of media relations based in Oklahoma City, Cox said. Previously, Cox reported to Cora Scott, who had served as media relations manager for Mercy Springfield
before being selected as the city of Springfield's director of public information and civic engagement.
Kullmann has worked at KOLR-10 for 11 years.
"Being the evening news anchor has been wonderful, and I have loved bringing the news to people in my home region,” Kullmann said in a news release. “It was just time for a change. This job will allow me to do all the things I love: meet new people, tell great stories and write every day, as well as spend more time with my family.”
Before joining KOLR-10, Kullmann, a Lincoln, Mo., native, worked at KSPR, an NBC affiliate in Columbia and a CBS affiliate in Wichita, Kan.
“Sonya brings almost 20 years of media experience to Mercy,” said Jon Swope, president and CEO of Mercy Springfield Communities, in the release. “She is well respected in our community, and we are delighted she is joining us. She is an excellent Mercy fit.”
