Killian Construction Company was honored Dec. 2, 1999, with the President's Award for Excellence in Construction, presented by Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. at its annual awards banquet at the Marriott Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The award, accepted by William F. Killian, recognizes the company's achievement in taking over the Tiffany Greens Golf Course Club House project in Kansas City, which at that time was over budget and behind schedule, according to a release from AB&C. In December 1998, Killian engineered the budget back $4 million dollars. Sticking to schedule was vital, since Tiffany Greens was slated to host the PGA Seniors Golf Tournament in August and there was $1 million in sponsorships and the reputation of the course and community on the line. Despite the numerous challenges, Killian completed the project on schedule, with as many as 70 workers on site at a time putting in 10-hour days seven days a week.
