'Keurig for beer' dispenser nears public launch

Posted online
Love your Keurig? Ever wish it could dispense beer the same way it lovingly brews coffee each morning?

The wait is almost over.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports the Synek Draft System, a crowdfunded draft beer dispenser, has settled on a final dispenser design as it nears its public launch.

Synek already has more than 1,200 breweries signed on as partners and is set to launch in 20 cities nationwide after it raised nearly $650,000 on crowdfunding website Kickstarter. The startup also got a $100,000 buy-in from AOL co-founder Steve Case.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the dispenser is about the size of a coffee machine and uses a 128-ounce flexible package that holds carbonated beverages, which ultimately fits into a box that can be plugged into the dispenser.

An official launch date has not been released.
