Gov.-elect Mike Kehoe has selected a lobbyist and former state senator to lead the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Kurt Schaefer is slated to take over as director of the department in January. He's been tapped to succeed Dru Buntin.
Schaefer also is a former general counsel and deputy director for DNR.
