KCI passenger traffic down in August

In August, passenger traffic dropped slightly at Kansas City International Airport, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

A report by the Kansas City Aviation Department shows 826,063 passengers arrived and departed in the month of August, which is a 1.1 percent decrease compared to last year. Passenger boardings were down 1 percent, totaling 404,829. Total boardings this year are shown at 3.2 million, a decline of 3.7 percent from the same time last year.

However, air cargo tonnage is increasing. The category including air mail and freight has seen a 4.2 percent increase year to date, and a 3.8 percent increase in August alone.
