KCI advisory board endorses single-terminal plan

Posted online
Kansas City Mayor Sly James' KCI advisory board recommends the city build a new single terminal to replace the existing three-terminal Kansas City International Airport.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the recommendation comes about a year after James select a 24-member board to consider the Kansas City Aviation Department's initial $1.2 billion proposal to consolidate the airport's three terminals into one.

Other options the board looked at were to expand and repurpose existing terminals; build a new central terminal and repurpose the others; or build a single terminal. A fourth option also has been tossed around - rehabilitate the existing facility, according to the report.
