The city of Kansas City plans to solicit proposals from solar energy developers for a large-scale project.
The city completed a feasibility study for the project near Kansas City International Airport. A first phase could include 96,000 solar panels with a capacity of 285 megawatts.
The solar farm could be capable of powering up to a third of Kansas City's homes.
