KC, STL in running for 2016 Republican convention

Posted online
There is a one in 12 chance that Missouri will host the 2016 Republican National Convention, according to a list of potential cites vying to serve as hosts reported by KSHB-TV in Kansas City.

A total of 24 cities, including Kansas City and St. Louis, received an invitation from the Republican party to bid for the right to host its 2016 convention.

Both Texas and Ohio each could boast a one in eight shot with three cities in contention: Dallas, Houston and San Antonio in Texas; and Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus in Ohio.

Kansas City also appears to be one of the cities seriously pursuing a bid, based on information a Republican operative shared with KSHB. The source said Columbus, Ohio; Las Vegas; Denver; Phoenix; and Kansas City plan to host receptions for RNC officials at the party’s winter meetings in Washington, D.C.
