KC Plaza sale expected to generate at least $1B

Highwoods Properties Inc., which bought the historic Country Club Plaza in Kansas City 17 years ago, announced last week it planned to sell all or most of its wholly owned Plaza assets.

Its Plaza assets include 804,000 square feet of retail space and 617,000 square feet of office space.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, some Kansas City-area commercial real estate sources said the sale should attract large institutional buyers and fetch at least $1 billion for Highwood Properties.
