KC plans whirlwind courtship of RNC site-selection committee

Posted online
The Republican National Convention site-selection committee officially landed in Kansas City Wednesday afternoon.

Let the games begin.

Boosters of KC's bid to host the GOP convention have until Friday morning to prove the city has the logistical chops to host in 2016.

The Kansas City Business Journal reports because of the limited time frame, the visit will center around the part of downtown that would be secured for the event and the County Club Plaza. The site-selection committee will be shown Sprint Center, the Kansas City Power & Light District, Bartle Hall, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and other “unique locations.” Dinners and meetings are set up, but specific details were not provided about those events.

The city hung special billboards and streetlight banners welcoming the committee and is encouraging residents and businesses to make signs.

Final selection is expected in late summer or fall.
