KC lofts project targets entrepreneurs, creative class

Posted online
An apartment project designed to attract entrepreneurial and creative tenants is being planned for north Kansas City. The Columbus Park Lofts will be the first phase of a $70 million redevelopment project near the north end of Kansas City’s streetcar line.

Work on the 108-unit lofts is expected to begin in July and wrap up by fall 2016.

The $19 million project, which will be within three blocks of the northern-most streetcar stop, will feature open floor plans and common areas designed to appeal to the creative class. A community-activity space in one of the loft buildings would include areas for displaying and working on art, a collaboration section for entrepreneurs, as well as a kitchen and coffee lounge, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
