A small Kansas City law firm won a nearly $7 million settlement agreement against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Brown & Curry LLC, a three-person firm, won a judgment on behalf of 82 veterans who were victims of sexual abuse at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, near Kansas City.
Brown & Curry argued the VA should have acted sooner in the case involving former physician assistant Mark Wisner, who in 2017 was convicted of sexually abusing VA patients at the Leavenworth center.
