KC books 800-room downtown convention center hotel

Kansas City is expected to get its long-awaited downtown convention headquarters hotel by 2018.

Plans by Burke Swerdling & Associates call for a $300 million, 800-room hotel to be operated by Hyatt, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Kansas City has not had a major hotel built downtown since 1985, according to the report.
