KC Bier Co. starts brewing beer

Posted online
Kansas City is no stranger to the beer brewing industry. Soon, the City of Fountains will add another microbrewery to the batch — this one with a European twist.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Waldo-based Kansas City Bier Co. LLC started brewing its first batches of its German-style beer this week.

Owner and founder Steve Holle plans to open a tasting room Feb. 1 and sell beer at local taverns by March 1. The company will offer five brews made with German malts, hops and yeast: a helles, a dunkle, a heffeweisen, a wheat bock beer and an interpretation of a hopfem doof.

The KCBJ reports, Beir Co. hired a brewmaster trained in Munich and initially hired a second German brewmaster as a consultant.
