KC-area home prices climb in May

Average new home sale prices in the Kansas City area were up 6 percent in May.

The average sale price of a new home in the area was $363,499 last month, and the average existing home price was $183,121, a 3 percent bump compared to the same month last year, according to the Kansas City Star.

In May, there were 2,863 homes sold in the Kansas City metropolitan area, 1 percent above May 2013.
