The Kansas City Council has approved more than $20 million in funding to support a housing redevelopment project.
Parade Park Homes, which was previously one of the oldest Black-owned housing cooperatives in the United States, is being redeveloped through a partnership between the city, Flaherty & Collins Development and Twelfth Street Heritage Corp.
The council-approved funding is for the first phase of the roughly $300 million project.
