KBP Foods scarfs up more fast-food stores in $20M acquisition

KBP Foods announced this week it closed its $20 million acquisition of Yum Brands Inc. restaurants in and around Chicago.

The purchase will be the Overland Park, Kan.-based company’s first entry into the Chicago market area. Earlier this year, KBP acquired 24 stores, which include Yum Brands’ Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell locations, plus Long John Silver’s restaurants in Kansas, Missouri and Florida.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, KBP is one of the largest Yum Brand franchisees, currently operating more than 260 stores in 10 states.

Yum Brands operates more than 41,000 stores in 125 countries and territories, according to the company’s website.
