Katy Perry sics lawyers on 'left shark' vendor

Posted online
Anybody who watched the Super Bowl halftime show is familiar with Katy Perry’s now famous backup dancers – two people dressed in shark costumes.

Noticeable during the event, the “left shark” was a far less-coordinated dancer than the “right shark,” and lefty moves have become an overnight sensation, spawning numerous Internet memes.

Enter Fernando Sosa, who 3-D prints politically themed sculptures, but this time he created a left shark figure, which he put up for sale for $24.99, shortly after the Super Bowl.

CNN reports Sosa received a cease-and-desist letter from Perry's legal representatives, demanding he stop selling the figures.

Sosa has retained legal counsel and says the costumes cannot be copyrighted.

He plans to keep selling the sharks for now.
