Kansas moves to phase out tax on groceries

The state government of Kansas is moving to phase out the nation’s second-highest state sales tax on groceries.

The legislature passed a plan to phase out the tax by 2025.

Gov. Laura Kelly, who faces reelection in November, wanted to eliminate the 6.5% tax this year.
