Kansas governor orders masks to be worn in public spaces

Posted online

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly on Monday ordered state residents to wear face masks in public spaces.

Effective July 3, the order is expected to bring backlash, according to The Wichita Eagle.

“This doesn’t change where you can go or what you can do. It just means if you’re around other people, you must wear a mask,” Kelly said during a news conference.

COVID-19 cases have been surging in the state. Kansas reported more than 900 new cases over the weekend, along with six deaths.
