Kansas City ranks No. 3 on 'America's Favorite Places' list

Providence, R.I., Houston, Texas, and Kansas City – what to these three cities have in common?

They are America’s favorite.

Readers of Travel + Leisure magazine ranked the cities top three it its “America's Favorite Places” list among 38 others in the United States.

The Kansas City Star reports the City of Fountains scored high marks for barbecue, flea markets, Christmas lights, affordability and courteous drivers. The rankings were based on more than 50,000 responses gathered online in June and July. Respondents rated their choice of destinations, using a scale of one to five, with broad categories including culture, shopping, quality of life, people, nightlife, food and drink, and type of trip.

While Kansas City ranked third overall, it took second for passionate sports fans, craft beer and peace and quiet.
