Kansas City Power & Light opens new solar plant

Kansas City Power & Light this week opened a new solar plant in Greenwood, 30 miles south of Kansas City.

The utility company's first commercial-scale solar power plant is expected to generate 4,700 megawatt-hours of energy a year. That's enough to power 440 homes.

Built on 12 acres, the facility has 11,500 solar panels.
