Kansas casino developers shell out $16.5M in fees

Three casino-development groups have shelled out $5.5 million a piece to the Kansas Lottery Commission in privilege fees to be considered for a single contract to build a casino in Kansas’ southeast gaming zone.

The groups represent Kansas Crossing Casino, Camptown Casino and Castle Rock Casino Resort are competing for a contract to build a state-owned casino. Privilege fees will be refunded to those not awarded a state contract.

A seven-member Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board is on tap to review the proposals, but the final say will come from Kansas Racing & Gaming Commission.
