A Kansas businessperson was sentenced for conspiring to defraud the government.
Charlie James, 43, of De Soto, Kansas, near Kansas City, was ordered to pay $215,000 in restitution and serve one year of probation.
The co-owner of KC United LLC, a group of contracting companies, James conspired to hide assets, avoiding paying more than $214,000 in taxes, prosecutors say.
