K-State looks to build $150M research facility

Posted online
Kansas State University’s president has requested $5 million in state funding for the school to plan what is being called the Food Systems Research and Education Facility.

The facility is estimated to cost $150 million, according to reporting by Lawrence Journal-World.

The goal of the project is to make Kansas State the top university in the world when it comes to food-related research, though research on energy and water issues would also tie in to the facility plans.

The 200,000-square-foot research center would support the growing College of Agriculture, which has added over 1,000 students during the past 10 years to total around 3,300 today.
