Visa has been hit with an antitrust lawsuit by the U.S. Justice Department.
The lawsuit alleges Visa penalizes merchants and banks who don’t use its payment processing technology to process debit transactions, The Associated Press reports.
"Today’s lawsuit ignores the reality that Visa is just one of many competitors in a debit space that is growing, with entrants who are thriving," said Julie Rottenberg, Visa’s general counsel.
