Jury orders egg suppliers to pay damages for alleged price gouging

A federal jury in Illinois ordered major egg suppliers to pay damages to several food manufacturing companies for alleged price gouging.

Damages of $17.7 million were tripled to more than $53 million under federal antitrust law.

The egg producers in the suit include Cal-Maine Foods, United Egg Producers and United States Egg Marketers.
