The honorees were chosen by a five-judge panel made up of previous 40 Under 40 honorees. Judges for the 2004 competition were Aaron Buerge, First National Bank, 40 Under 40 class of 2002; Mar'Ellen Felin, Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau, class of 2001; Rob Haik, H Design Group, class of 2003; Mark West, Downhome Productions, class of 2000; and Tammy Wiley, KSMU-FM, class of 1999.
Applications were blind, in that the individual applicants' names were removed, and judges recused themselves from judging applicants recognizable as friends, co-workers or clients. Recusal had no effect on scores as the final score formula divided the total score by the number of judges that participated.
The 40 Under 40 event will be held 6-9 p.m. April 22 at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center, 2610 N. Glenstone.
Tickets are available and may be purchased for $25 each by contacting Diana Weber, SBJ circulation manager, at 417-831-3238 or dweber@sbj.net.
