Judge to rule on Missouri Medicaid expansion this week

A circuit judge is expected to rule this week on whether Missouri must fund voter-approved Medicaid expansion.

“I am sensitive to the time,” Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem said Monday at the end of a trial that began after a lawsuit was filed against the lack of funding for the issue. The initiative passed by voters last year mandates a July 1 start date for expanded benefits.

Medicaid expansion was not funded by the state legislature or Gov. Mike Parson.
