Judge Regi Martin of the Greene County Circuit Court has died. She was 63.
Martin, who died Feb. 16, had cancer, according to her obituary posted to GormanScharpf.com.
She served as a family law practitioner in Springfield, 2007-16, and was appointed family court commissioner in 2016, according to her profile at GreeneCountyCourts.org.
"She even held court in her hospital room; her devotion and work ethic kept her working up until her death," Martin's obituary reads, noting she had "a passion to put children’s interests and well-being over all else."
Martin practiced law with Mehaffy & Weber in Beaumont, Texas, 1984-1990, and worked in private-sector business 1990-2007, according to her Greene County Circuit Court profile. Her obituary indicates she moved back to Springfield to help run her family's horse business, as well as their garment company, called Endless Summer.
"After being away from the legal field for years, Regi impressed many as she demonstrated her expertise in law once again by passing the Missouri Bar on her first attempt," her obituary reads.
Founded in 2020, EnCompass Academy moved to a larger home this summer for the 2026-27 year.
