Chief Judge Troy Nunley of the Eastern District Court of California in Sacramento has paused Nexstar's takeover of Tegna.
The deal is blocked until an antitrust trial plays out, according to NPR.
If Nexstar loses the trial, it could be compelled to unwind the $6.2 billion deal.
