Judge grants hearing to Joplin Globe in city records suit

Posted online
Jasper County Circuit Court Judge David Mouton has granted a request for a full evidentiary hearing made by the Joplin Globe into the release of records held by the city of Joplin.

The hearing is scheduled March 31, which is one week before the city’s April 8 election.

The newspaper and its parent company, Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., filed a lawsuit earlier this week calling for the disclosure of the full investigative report of Attorney Thomas Loraine. Loraine’s report led to the firing of former City Manager Mark Rohr, according to the Joplin Regional Business Journal.

The Globe is seeking the public disclosure of the report ,along with the testimony of witnesses.
