Southwest Missouri-based Jtronics Corporation owner Terry James has been ordered to stop soliciting Missourians with opportunities to invest in his local Internet and wireless service company, according to a news release from Secretary of State Matt Blunt's office.
James allegedly transferred some of the money received from investors into his personal bank account to make payments on personal bank loans.
At least one Missouri resident invested more than $300,000 with James after he said the investor would have 25 percent ownership in the business and would get 8 percent interest on all money invested. James told her there was no risk involved. James also said the company name was changing to World Wide Broadcasting Corp.
James made similar offers to at least four other Missouri residents, none of whom invested money in his business, which had offices in Springfield, Ozark and Buffalo.
Blunt said the investigation is continuing.
