JQH partners with Grove for downtown spa

Posted online
Springfield-based companies John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts and Grove Spa are partnering to bring a full-service spa to University Plaza Hotel.

The 1,100-square-foot facility to be built on the main floor of the downtown hotel would be Grove Spa's second location in Springfield, according to a news release. The other is located on East Sunshine Street next to Grove Pharmacy, its parent company.

University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center General Manager Robert Henley said Grove Spa is leasing space in the hotel, but he declined to disclose financial terms.

Construction is scheduled to begin July 1, and officials expect the spa to open in September, the release said.

The spa is planned to accommodate individuals and groups on a walk-in and appointment basis. The self-contained Grove Spa is designed to include three massage/skincare rooms, four pedicure stations and three manicure stations.

“Our collaboration with University Plaza Hotel will enable us to accommodate sizable groups by constructing a larger manicure and pedicure lounge and utilizing the hotel’s facilities for parties,” said Haden Long, Grove Spa director, in the release. “We plan to cater to bachelorettes, brides, (Springfield Expo Center) meetings, and other spa groups looking for a unique and relaxing experience.”[[In-content Ad]]
