JQH invests $1.2 million in Kentucky Holiday Inn

John Q. Hammons Hotels Inc. announced it has invested $1.2 million in capital improvements to its 218-room Univers-ity Plaza Hotel in Bowling Green, Ky.

The improvements include new branding as a Holiday Inn Hotel and upgraded physical features, like the Hammons' signature multistoried garden atrium and water feature, ac-cording to a press release.

John Q. Hammons attended the April 25 grand reopening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the renamed Holiday Inn Uni-versity Plaza.

Ron Sowell, chairman-elect to the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Board of Direc-tors, said the renovated hotel will fill a need in the area's business community.

Also during the ceremony, Hammons received an autographed basketball from the Western Kentucky University men's basketball team for his support of the school.

John Q. Hammons Hotels, which is publicly traded on the American Stock Exchange un-der the symbol JQH, has 56 hotels with brands of Holiday Inn, Embassy Suites, Renai-ssance, Marriott, Radisson, Crowne Plaza, Residence Inn, Homewood Suites and Hamp-ton Inn & Suites.
