John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts is putting the finishing touches on $1.5 million in renovations at the Courtyard by Marriott-Springfield Airport.
The Springfield-based company is working toward an early February completion that includes a redesign of the 3527 W. Kearney St. hotel's rooms and suites, lobby, common areas and meeting space, according to hotel General Manager Shelley Copeland.
"The new design is very contemporary," she said of the remodeling work being done on the hotel originally opened in April 2000.
The 142-room hotel with nearly 4,200 square feet of meeting space is changing to include new furnishings and artwork. Copeland said JQH hired Rogersville-based Quantum Building Solutions LLC to perform contracting work.
"Operationally, the goal has been to be as unobtrusive to our guests as possible," Copeland said, noting the renovations began in August.
JQH's downtown hotel University Plaza also is undergoing renovations, a $4 million, multiphase project to improve the exterior and interior of the establishment, according to
