Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts has signed on for a second year as a hotel sponsor for concert pianist Jim Brickman.
While Brickman tours nationwide to promote his latest CD, "Home," he and his crew will stay at JQH Hotels’ properties in select cities.
Joe Morrissey, the company’s senior vice president of operations, said two JQH properties – in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Virginia Beach, Va. – are currently on Brickman’s tour schedule. The full number of stays and properties will be determined, he said, noting that Brickman recently stayed at JQH’s Denver property.
In 2010, JQH Hotels was a hotel sponsor for Brickman’s Beautiful World tour, which included stays at JQH properties in Joplin and Hampton, Va.
“The crew and I really have come to expect the best from a hotel stay after enjoying accommodations at John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts’ properties,” Brickman said in a news release.
Morrissey said the company has identified shared target demographics with Brickman fans.
“The people who buy Jim Brickman are relatively affluent, and we find they overlap well with our customer base,” he said, pointing to leisure travelers, particularly women, and conventioneers and executive decision-makers.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement says the JQH and Brickman brands will be cross-promoted online, on radio, in-market and on-premise during the tour.
“The benefit is the publicity in the local market,” Morrissey said. “Our sales teams in the hotels get to use access to Jim Brickman and the concert to entertain our clients.
“It’s good visibility for us locally because Jim and his crew are in the hotel for 24 hours to 48 hours.”
JQH Hotels operates roughly 80 properties under the Embassy Suites, Renaissance, Marriott, Radisson, Residence Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Holiday Inn and Courtyard by Marriott brands.
Brickman is a Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling recording artist, pianist and composer, who has collaborated with such musicians as Martina McBride, Kenny Loggins, Carly Simon, Michael Bolton and Donny Osmond.
