JPMorgan Chase earnings beat consensus

JP Morgan Chase, the nation's second-largest bank by market value, reported second-quarter earnings of $1.46 per share, compared to the $1.29 expected by analysts.

During the second quarter, earnings dropped to $5.99 billion from $6.5 billion a year earlier, and revenue decreased to $25.35 billion, according to USA Today.

Among expenses, the company paid $500 million in legal fees in the second quarter, or about 13 cents per share.
