Broadcast journalist Roy Firestone is the scheduled speaker for Citizens Memorial Healthcare's 10th annual Burgundy Ball.
Firestone, who has won seven Emmy and seven CableACE awards, is largely known for his sports interviews. The journalist also has interviewed subjects including cyclist Lance Armstrong, former President Richard Nixon, actor James Stewart, jazz musician Miles Davis, actor Ray Romano and musician Madonna, according to a news release.
Past speakers include Amy Grant, Henry Winkler, Kyle Petty, Vicki Lawrence, Sugar Ray Leonard, Carl Edwards, Ozzie Smith, Anne Jillian and Kevin Sharp.
The Burgundy Ball is scheduled 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the University Plaza Convention Center in downtown Springfield, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway. The gala will include live and silent auctions to benefit the Bolivar-based health care system's Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center.
Citizens Memorial Healthcare produced 2012 revenue of $297 million, representing three-year growth of 20 percent, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
