Jordan Valley starts construction on new clinic

Posted online
Jordan Valley Community Health Center this morning marked the beginning of renovations to the L.E. Cox Building for the center’s new clinic.

The 40,000-square-foot facility, 440 E. Tampa St., will replace Jordan Valley’s clinic at 630 W. Kearney St. when it opens in August 2009, according to a news release. Geared toward the underinsured and uninsured, it will house adult and pediatric medical services, a Women, Infants and Children program, behavioral health services and a pharmacy.

The clinic will have 50 exam rooms – double the capacity of the West Kearney clinic – and room for 10 percent staff increase. It also will be built to allow a 30,000-square-foot addition in the future. Click here for a look at the project rendering.

Jordan Valley will seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification.

Community leaders, Jordan Valley board members, Rep. Bob Dixon and U.S. Sen. Kit Bond were on hand for today’s event. Bond was instrumental in the center obtaining status as a federally qualified health center, which allowed it to receive federal funds; the fiscal 2008 Labor-Health and Human Services bill includes $1.5 million in federal dollars for the project.

Other Jordan Valley locations are a dental clinic at 630 N. Benton Ave. and a primary care clinic at 667 Church St. in Marshfield.
