A former Walgreens store that closed earlier this year is getting new life by way of Jordan Valley Community Health Center.
Jordan Valley expects a mid-2026 completion for the remodeling of the building at 1930 W. Grand St., at the intersection with Kansas Expressway, said Kristy Taylor, the health system's marketing strategist.
"We are relocating our Jordan Valley Senior Care program to this building because of its proximity to the current location and current pharmacy, and so we can remodel the current facility and create space for our growing pediatric dental residency program," Taylor said via email.
Jordan Valley Senior Care is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE, that started in July 2024 at the health system's 1720 W. Grand St. clinic. The clinic is across the street from the former Walgreens store.
Taylor declined to disclose the August purchase price of the roughly 14,000-square-foot building from Blackstone Group North LLC or expected renovation costs. DeWitt & Associates Inc. signage has been installed on fencing that currently surrounds the property.
The Walgreens store at the site closed in February, according to past reporting.
Jordan Valley's plans for the former Walgreens building were first reported by the Springfield Daily Citizen.
