Jordan Valley Health recently announced a pair of additions to its executive team with both roles also serving as internal promotions.

Dr. Clint Strong is the Springfield-based healthcare provider’s new chief medical officer, effective June 1, according to a news release. A nearly 14-year employee at Jordan Valley Health, Strong previously was medical director of pediatrics, according to Kristy Taylor, marketing strategist.

According to officials, the chief medical officer position was formerly held by Dr. Matthew Stinson, who succeeded Brooks Miller as Jordan Valley Health’s president and CEO in 2024. Taylor said a national search was conducted, with 15 candidates identified. Strong was selected among five finalists.

“Dr. Strong’s dedication to our mission, his extensive clinical experience and his commitment to patient-centered care make him an outstanding choice for this role,” said Dr. Nick Pfannenstiel, chief operations officer, in the release. “We are excited to see the impact he will make as chief medical officer and are grateful for his continued service to Jordan Valley Health and the communities we serve.”

During Stong’s tenure at Jordan Valley Health, his clinical experience has spanned multiple areas, including pediatrics, hospital rounding, express care and regional clinics, giving him a deep understanding of both patient needs and organizational operations, according to officials.

In his new role, Strong will provide clinical and strategic leadership across all medical specialties and work closely with Chief Dental Officer Dr. Ashley Popejoy to further expand and strengthen Jordan Valley Health’s integrated care model.

“Jordan Valley Health has been my professional home for over 13 years, and I’m honored to step into the role of chief medical officer,” said Strong in the release. “I’ve been blessed to work alongside incredible providers, care teams and staff who are deeply committed to serving our patients and communities. I’m excited to continue building on that mission.”

Additionally, Ryan Kruger was promoted to a newly created position at the healthcare organization. According to a separate news release, Kruger began work April 20 as chief strategy officer. He formerly served as its vice president of operations. In his new role, Kruger will help guide strategic initiatives that support the organization’s future growth while continuing to enhance patient care and operational excellence across the health system.

Officials say in the release Kruger has demonstrated strong leadership throughout his nearly three-year tenure at Jordan Valley Health, successfully leading overseeing initiatives and operations for the organization, such as Jordan Valley Health Senior Care and Jordan Valley Health Pharmacies.

“Jordan Valley Health is entering an exciting period of strategic growth and transformation,” said Stinson, in the release. “His ability to lead complex programs, build strong teams and think strategically makes him the ideal person to help guide Jordan Valley Health into the future.”

As chief strategy officer, Kruger also will now oversee Human Resources, which officials say is an area critical to Jordan Valley Health’s continued workforce development and organizational culture efforts.

“I’m honored to step into this new role and continue supporting the incredible work happening across Jordan Valley Health,” said Kruger, in the release. “I look forward to helping strengthen our organization, support our teams and continue expanding access to quality care for the communities we serve as we build for the future together.”
