Jordan Valley Community Health Center will soon have a pediatrician on site to treat children, for the first time in the center's eight-year history.
Dr. Rebecca Wotherspoon and three pediatric nurse practitioners will begin seeing children for primary medical care this week in the new pediatric wing of the clinic at 440 E. Tampa St.
Wotherspoon and her staff have 12 exam rooms and a separate waiting area available in the recently expanded lower level of the facility, according to a clinic news release.
The new pediatric facility opens on the heels of the December opening of the Our Healthy Start clinic for obstetrics and gynecological services. At that time, clinic leaders said they would continue to look for ways to enhance care for women and children, according to the release.
"As we continue to develop a health care home for families, enhancing pediatric care is essential," CEO Brooks Miller said in the release. "It is our desire to provide comprehensive primary care services to children, helping to create a healthier tomorrow."
The clinic is open from 7 a.m.–9 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday and offers dental care, behavioral health services and a full-service pharmacy.
