San Mateo, Calif.-based Con-way Inc. Jan. 10 announced that its truckload unit, Contract Freighters Inc., or CFI, of Joplin, is now named Con-way Truckload.

Con-way completed its $750 million acquisition of the Joplin carrier in August.

The new, combined truckload unit has more than 2,800 tractors, 8,000 trailers and 3,500 employees, and it is expected to bring in $500 million in annual revenues, according to a Con-way news release.

Con-way debuted a new employee pay package Jan. 1 that includes a 1-cent-per-mile increase and other driver-requested enhancements.

Con-way Truckload also recently purchased 300 Freightliner Cascadia and 160 Kenworth T660 truck models, which feature expanded sleeper accommodations, and the company will be purchasing 140 SmartWaySM-approved Cummins 2007 ISX engines with the Cummins Particulate Filter, which reduces emissions and fuel consumption.[[In-content Ad]]
