The Environmental Protection Agency levied a fine against the Joplin 44 Petro Truck Stop for alleged Clean Water Act violations.
The truck stop, which is owned by Iowa 80 Group Inc., has been ordered to pay more than $186,000. Iowa 80 Group has been ordered to pay a total of $390,784 in fines for the Joplin truck stop and another in Walcott, Iowa.
EPA officials allege the truck stops failed to implement a spill prevention, control and countermeasure plan, a requirement of the Clean Water Act.
