Joplin City Council gave approval to a resolution authorizing the community to participate in a disaster-plan development.
The city of Joplin will work with a government standards agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology Engineering Laboratory, and Colorado State University's Center for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning on the plan.
The Joplin Globe reports the plan will focus on how cities can prepare for disasters and make decisions for recovery post-disaster.
