The 6 p.m. ceremony will be held at the Walking Trail at the northwest corner of the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Murphy Boulevard.
Holiday lights, provided in part by Empire District, run along Campbell Parkway between 20th Street and 10th Street.
Joplin City Council members will speak at the ceremony, followed by songs by the Calvary Baptist Church Choir.
The public is invited to attend the event.
