The Joplin Police Department has a new incoming chief.
The city announced Rich Pearson accepted the role. He most recently has served as captain of the Jefferson County Public School System Police Department in Louisville, Kentucky.
Pearson, who starts Dec. 18, is slated to succeed Sloan Rowland, who retired this summer.
