Joplin’s longest serving homeless shelter is planning to relocate.
Souls Harbor, which turns 40 this year, is working on a move to a larger, interconnected campus near downtown. It would provide more space for people in need of temporary housing and other assistance such as clothing and food.
Diana Gurley, executive director, said businesses in the area "all seem to be on board" with the shelter's plans to buy a former roofing supply building. Next, she said the organization will seek approval from nearby residents.
